2024 Summer Show
Once again we held our Summer Show “live” on Saturday, 10th August, for the first time at Warnford Village Hall.
2024 followed the successful more streamlined summer show format of 2023, which eliminated those classes that appealed to very few exhibitors or none at all.
Another innovation that was roundly praised last year was “audience participation” in the Crafts and Fun sections. This was maintained for this year's show, with visitors encouraged to attribute "prizes" using an anonymous judging sheet, according to their opinions of the entries.
In our wonderful new venue, Vera Short kindly presented all the prizes and congratulated all participants on the efforts they had put in to produce such delightful exhibits.
Steve Jones was the outright winner in the Vegetable sections, with Edwin Grimshaw, Carol Rowlatt and Jenny Jenkin winning the Flower Arranging, Penny Power winning the Flower sections, and Joanne Horn leading the Cookery sections. Stephen Short, RoseMarie Miles and Liz English also acquitted themselves honourably. Finally, Penny Power and Carol Rowlatt were each awarded a Diploma for Excellence in Horticulture, quite some achievement!
The stand out winner was, though, Steve Jones, winning the F Burt Challenge Trophy for the best collection of vegetables, the Val Dicker Challenge Trophy for the most points awarded in the vegetable classes and finally the Stephens Challenge Trophy for the most points awarded to a member in the show.
The details of all the trophies awarded can be seen below.
