Warnford, West Meon & Woodlands Garden & Countryside Club
WELCOME!
Nestled in the Meon Valley, our club covers the Warnford, West Meon and Woodlands area and is open to all who have an interest in gardening and the countryside.
It doesn’t matter whether you have years of gardening experience or are just starting off and not quite sure of what goes where! Gardening is so diverse, we never stop learning. There is nothing nicer than finding another enthusiastic gardener to discuss your ideas with. Gardeners are renowned for their love of passing on tips, advice and the odd cutting or two, plus of course, there is always loads of encouragement!
We also try to stimulate interest in the conservation of wild flowers, trees, bird and wild animal life; and to increase concern for the protection of the environment in the countryside.
The Club hosts a number of interesting events throughout the year;
-
We hold a series of talks by engaging presenters through the year.
-
There is an annual visit or two to a formal garden and/or members may open their gardens to the other members of the club for an evening over the summer.
-
There is a bring and buy plant sale and supper in May.
The culmination of the events in the year is the Warnford West Meon and Woodlands Garden & Countryside Club's Summer Show in August. All are welcome to enter. Remember to nurture your flowers and vegetables, practise your culinary skills and work your creative magic for the flower arranging, crafts and photo classes for this!
It's a fun day and entering your produce, whether flowers, vegetables, photography, cookery or crafts, is really worth the effort. There are children's classes as well, so do encourage them to enter. Lots of cups to be won, great camaraderie and, who knows, you could be a winner! Classes are open to non-members.
Take advantage of our reciprocal arrangement with the East Meon Garden Club whereby members of either Club can visit each other’s all for the price of one, so to speak. This of course widens our gardening experiences hugely.
